Mi Pueblito - convenient to walk there and food is great

Have you been over to constitution beach? What are your favorite things to do (or plan on doing this summer) there?

I have not. Probably won’t as I am not a beach person.

When you first visited The Tess, what was it that made you fall in love with the property and made you know you wanted to call it your home?

I first visited in the very early stages of construction. I loved the location - lots of great restaurants, the beach, the park and the T all so close. I loved John’s energy and vision for the space. Everytime I came back to look at the progress, I fell more in love and couldn’t be happier with the finished product.

After moving in, how well have any issues you’ve run into been handled?

Very well - everyone has been super responsive and helpful (developer, contractor, leasing agents, property management).

After spending some time in Orient Heights, where are some of your favorite places to go out, and why?

Renegades/Luna’s/Angela’s - some of my favorite spots I’ve been to so far - great food/drinks/environment. Looking forward to doing lots more exploring as the weather gets nicer.

Do you spend time in the city? How have you found the accessibility to Boston?

Yes, I work in Back Bay and typically go out in the city often. Very accessible - quick uber ride and T is 3 minute walk from the condo.

Have you been over to constitution beach? What are your favorite things to do (or plan on doing this summer) there?

Yes, looking forward to spending a lot of time there this summer - getting sun on the weekends and relaxing during the week after work.

What would you want anyone to know about The Tess if they are considering making it there home?

Beautiful space and finishes, spacious deck, brand new appliances/technology (the bose speakers are amazing), covered parking, great people and location.

Many have heard of the famous Maho Beach in St. Maarten, where planes fly so low over the beach that it’s become a popular attraction for thrill seekers from around the world. Well, you can have a similar experience steps from your home at The Tess in Orient Heights, East Boston. Watch the planes flying from Logan Airport and ships sailing through Boston Harbor!

Luna's: Italian & Latin cuisine

Just across the street from The Tess you can find local gem: Luna’s.

Luna’s is a breakfast-through-dinner hangout with coffee bar & kitchen offering Italian & Latin cuisine.

La Luna is the only restaurant in East Boston serving both Latin and Italian food in the same place. It’s a little strange, just like the juxtaposition of Venetian and solar system paintings on the wall. As a general rule, stick with the Latin dishes like the arepa and tacos - because if you want Italian food, there are better places like Mario’s down the street.

Renegades: Beers. Burgers. Bourbon.

Just steps from The Tess you can find local gem: Renegades.

Renegade’s is a classic American pub showcasing New England craft beers, classic cocktails, and specialty whiskeys. The menu matches our concept, with pub style burgers made with locally sourced ground beef that never has any fillers or trimmings. Along with salads, chicken sandwiches, wings, an awesome Reuben, this spot has some great grazing appetizers.

All draft beers are sourced within 200 miles of the front door. Offering an extensive bottle and can beer list, as well as an impressive whiskey and spirits list. Their first location opened 2016 in East Boston Ma and our second location in Londonderry, NH opened in 2019.

Leaf Peeping in East Boston

In the time of coronavirus, when many traditional spaces in the city shut down this socially distanced activity is more attractive than ever. Each year, Greater Boston plays host to some of the most vibrant fall foliage colors in the entire world making leaf peeping season in New England an ideal option for road trippers. Due to this year’s severe drought, leaves around the area are turning a little earlier than normal. 2020 fall foliage in Boston is expected to peak the week of Sunday, October 11th.

These are some of the best places to peep fall foliage in East Boston.

Constitution Beach: Visit the beach just steps from The Tess to watch the planes land and see the foliage being reflected on the water.

LoPresti Park: See the leaves turn in East Boston as you play some sports at this great outdoor recreation spot on the Eastie waterfront!

Located at 61 Bayswater Street, the Orient Heights Yacht Club is the oldest incorporated yacht club in Massachusetts. It sits on the north banks of Winthrop Harbor overlooking the airport with beautiful views of downtown Boston.

For over a century the East Boston’s Orient Heights Yacht Club was a meeting place for club members and for community members alike. Many club events, neighborhood BBQ's, and Blessing of the Fleet celebrations were held there. For many people the clubhouse was like a second home, a place to socialize, boat, and enjoy the company of friends.

The club was closed for five years after an electrical fire April 8, 2000, but reopened in February of 2005. Today the club has approximately 250 members and many monthly events

Getting to Know the Neighborhood

In order to appreciate the true value of a home, an assessment of what’s nearby must be considered. The northernmost neighborhood in the city of Boston, Orient Heights captures a true mix of city-suburban feel.

There’s no shortage of local services and amenities within walking distance of the Tess. First and foremost, 946 Saratoga Street sits just 0.2 miles from Constitution Beach and 0.3 miles from the Orient Heights Blue Line station. The combination of beach access and rapid transit (aka subway) access are luxuries that very few Boston residents can boast.

Unlike the vast majority of neighborhoods throughout Boston, Orient Heights has a number of parks and green spaces located within a very small vicinity. The Tess is abutted by Noyes Playground, a 8.31 acre park that the city of Boston spent $4.7M to improve in 2019. A brand new turf soccer field and a baseball and softball diamond offer more free range than city folks are used to.

In terms of food, East Boston packs a punch. Whether it’s Luna’s, Milano’s Delicatessen, Angela’s Cafe or New Saigon, the neighborhood offers a taste of just about every type of cuisine all within a very short walking distance. If you’re looking to get out of the neighborhood, you’re just a quick 15 minute trip via public transit to Rino’s Place or 18 minutes to Santarpio’s.
